Canyon Falls
Roadside Park
Canyon Falls
Roadside Park is a
great place for the
kayak lovers or the
fisherman. Canyon
Falls is one of the
most well-known
roadside parks along
US 41. Located 7
miles south of
L'Anse, near
Alberta. Along the
falls there is a
fence to keep
viewers safe. As
long as you stay on
the trail it is very
safe and beautiful.
Little Mountain
Little Mountain
located down the
golf course road in
L'Anse is another
great tourist
attraction. A few
other places to
check out include:
Slate Falls (Arvon
township), East&West
branch of the Huron
River, Silver Falls,
and many of the
waterfalls on the
Falls river.
Mount Arvon
Mount Arvon is the
highest point in
Michigan, standing
1,979 feet above sea
level. Mt. Arvon is
located 12 miles
East of L'Anse. If
you enjoy hiking in
the mountains then
Mt. Arvon is
definitely one to
climb. However, in
the winter and
spring the road will
be closed due to
snow or mud, making
it difficult for
vehicles to get in
and out. Climbing
Mt. Arvon is no walk
in the park, you can
easily get lost in
the woods.
Silver Mountain
Silver Mountain is
also another great
place to view the
fall colors and get
a work out at the
same time.
Sturgeon River
Gorge
The Sturgeon
River Gorge is a
beautiful sight in
the fall with all
the fall colors
changing. You will
see the beautiful 25
foot waterfall
within the 14,139
acres of wilderness.
You can also see a
vast amount of
wildlife along the
terrain. Whitetail
deer, bald eagles,
snowshoe hare,
beavers, otters, and
many more inhabit
the land. Not only
do you get a great
view of waterfall
but wildlife as
well.
